Soft-spoken and politely friendly with a hidden side. Like the iron fist under the velvet glove, like the gentle glow of the candle that burns moths drawn too near. Has a terminal savior complex. Intensely curious yet too weak-bodied to adventure, fascinated by stories of distant lands and souvenirs gifted by travelers. Trusting, and as a result easily taken advantage of in a city like Ul'dah.    BACKGROUND   
Originally born Davaajav Dalamiq in the Azim Steppe, Akal's family split from their tribe during the Sixth Astral Era, leaving for Eorzea to pursue the trajectory of the moon Dalamud. Soon after their arrival in the west, they encountered the Lambs of Dalamud. Eager to learn more of this faction's findings, the stray Dalamiq gradually became integrated into the cult, only to later fall victim to their violent practices.Approaching the fall of Dalamud, the Lambs began to sacrifice members of their ranks to the moon in order to gain its favor. In the wake of the calamity, Akal's body was picked up along with a pile of red-robed corpses that the Thaumaturge's guild had been tasked with the identification and disposal of. Prior to incarceration, the former guildmaster Mumuepo had found success after numerous failures in using Heartstrike, a dagger imbued with the power to resurrect the dead, with a body pulled from the pile.Miraculously, it seemed Akal survived both ritual and calamity, but was left with the guilt that Dalamud punished the world with the Seventh Umbral Calamity out of displeasure with him. Later, given Akal's proficiency for thaumaturgy, he was quickly accepted into the guild and put to work without much question, with the high number of bodies to account for and perform funerary rites for.After years as a thaumaturge, the succeeding guildmasters at the Arrzaneth Ossuary took it upon themselves to grant Akal a title inspired by a passage in The Yawning Abyss, invoking the destructive power of fire, a core ideal to live up to as a thaumaturge while being a callback to their faith in The Traders — the all-consuming fire: Akal Esh.Akal was later "recruited" by the Order of Nald'thal as a sort of compensation when his guildmasters sent him to the wrong door to seek forgiveness for their debts from.    PRESENT DAY   
Currently a fervent devotee of the Order of Nald'thal, Akal attributes his survival of the calamity to the grace of The Traders. Wishing to pay forward the kindness of the Order and Thaumaturges’ guild for taking in an outsider, Akal can often be seen offering aid to refugees across Ul’dah.It is rumored that at the Order, their bodies, too, are goods to be offered up in service to their God of Commerce.
